Progress and Opportunities

Dude, so it's been awhile since I posted. Believe it or not, I've actually been hard at work on stuff for my site and other web projects in general. A major website update is in progress, which will completely renovate my website from scratch. Attached to that will be a totally redone web gallery via PHP Gallery, which I've almost got configured to read my existing picture archive, but we'll see how that goes. For now, take a look at this link for a design preview!

The holidays approach. I've got a number of things planned this year, including visits with the family and such. I'm going to attempt to play down the gift-giving this year, with the exception of one big present to a loved one who has earned it lately. As a result, I have to carefully manage my spending in order to afford it. I've gotten a set of raises recently, in what I believe to be an effort to appease the fact that the labor has been cut, and that the position I was informed I might receive has been cut. Oh well, they help with the holidays.

I continue to be the one going to the advanced in-home projects sold by our department, regardless of the fact that we have two fully qualified Double Agents who spend all day doing in-homes. Sadly enough, I suspect that my computer knowledge outstrips both of theirs in nearly every field applicable to in-home, and in several of the areas we have recently begun to expand into. There have been many occasions where I receive calls from either of them regarding some oddball problem or issue they run in to. Better yet, I find out that the Geek Squad Standalones (the GS stores outside Best Buy locations) actually have a position for people like me. It's essentially a mix of in-store and in-home expertise in areas such as Servers and Advanced Networking, but the pay is equal to that of a Double Agent! Guess where I want to work now? Better yet, they just opened a standalone in Dallas, about 20 minutes from here. Nobody asked ME if I wanted the job, though :/
